Coronavirus Considerations

Hello!

At Seattle EMDR Associates we have been talking a lot about the new coronavirus, and we bet you have been too. The information about this virus and how it may affect our lives is being updated frequently, which can increase uncertainty and anxiety.

We want to reassure you that we are here for you to talk about your concerns, and we want to encourage you to take advantage of our online or telephone session options if any of the following is true for you:

  • You’re feeling really anxious about leaving your home/catching the virus

  • You’re having/have recently had ANY symptoms of fever, cough, or shortness of breath

  • You are immunocompromised in any way

Many people will only have mild symptoms, so it might feel silly or uncomfortable to stay home if you only feel “a little” sick. But we want to encourage you to:

  • Take care of yourself! Listen to what your body needs and see if you can use this as an opportunity to practice self care.

  • Think about your greater community; you may be able to easily fight the virus but you might come into contact with others who aren’t as lucky.

  • Wash your hands often, and if you do come in, take advantage of the hand sanitizer we have in the office as well as the clorox wipes in the waiting room.

We will also be taking the same steps to take care of ourselves and listen to our bodies. If you are healthy and you’d like to come in we’ll be happy to see you. And if you’d like to do online or over the phone, let your therapist know ahead of time so you can get set up on the confidential apps we use for video sessions.

If you prefer/need to cancel your sessions due to illness, we are waiving the late cancel fee (if due to illness) for the time being. Maintaining everyone’s health is our top priority.

If you’d like more information about the coronavirus, we recommend getting information from the cdc.gov and more locally, king5.com/coronavirus.

Please let your therapist know if you have any questions or concerns. We are here for you.

Thank you,
