Why is Tina an EMDR Therapist?

Why is Tina an EMDR Therapist?

(This is a guest post from Tina!)

Even though I swore I was quite done with education for several years following my Masters in

Counseling graduation, it was merely one year before I was restless to expand my set of skills

and knowledge base. Not much of a surprise to anyone who knows me.

It was important to me to find a modality that builds a client’s deeper awareness of their somatic,

or body-based signals and truly RESOLVE the issue that needs attention. I was searching for

practices and methods that could heal on a deeper dimension; one that when the client arrived

on the other side, the lighter side of the distress, they would experience some of the gifts that

the experience contained. What therapies or treatments out there could stand up to this

expectation?

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing was a therapeutic treatment that could promise

this. As I researched further I was intrigued by what was possible and in what amount of time it

could be obtained.

That’s what brought me to EMDR training and the subsequent therapeutic practice, and what

keeps me aligned with its principles are the consistent, inspiring, and comprehensive results I

witness with clients.

I believe it takes courage to face painful experiences again after experiencing them, and, when

choosing a treatment like EMDR clients can be rewarded for this courage.
