Why Sola Loves EMDR
Since graduate school, I have always held a fairly eclectic view regarding therapy modalities. I first fell in love with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy due to its vivid use of imagery and metaphor to encourage value based living. I then grew to love Existentialism as a philosophical approach because of how it views meaning and decision making. Emotion Focused Individual Therapy later provided a balance between parts work and expanding emotional literacy.
While I still love and utilize all of these modalities, I have found that nothing quite compares to EMDR. I love how EMDR gives me a front row seat to witness people feeling significantly better in significantly shorter periods of time compared to "standard" talk therapy. EMDR uses our minds' natural desire and ability to heal paired with evidence-backed tools, to help facilitate that process. I think EMDR is a great tool for people wanting to process a wide array of presenting problems.
