Lis Bergdahl is fully trained in EMDR. She earned her MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University Seattle and has a BA from Willamette University. Her humble and respectful approach is informed by her background in crisis services and community mental health. She brings years of experience working with individuals from diverse walks of life and leading groups in DBT skills, mindfulness, and yoga. Her therapeutic lens is somatic and postmodern, rooted in Polyvgal Theory and Attachment Theory as well as Narrative Therapy and creative arts modalities.
Lis operates from a place of awe at the body’s ability to adapt in response to adversity and trauma. She believes the nervous system has tremendous power to heal when given the time and space to do so. She is honored to partner with individuals in steering their ships toward healing and presence.
Lis’s work as a therapist is informed by her years of experience as a stay at home parent to three young children. She also knows what it is like to love a family member with chronic illness and anxiety. From a young age she has been interested in wellness of body, mind, and spirit. She understands the importance of community, and she understands how scary and painful it can sometimes be to connect with others. She is constantly inspired by the quiet magic that can unfold in the therapeutic space.
Lis enjoys ferry boat adventures, finding new music, walking, thrifting, yoga, movies, and novels. Her favorite show is Parks and Recreation. She is a white, hetero, cis-gender, US-born, able-bodied Millennial Woman.
Lis sees clients virtually but may arrange in-person sessions on a case by case basis.
