Alan Breen, MS, M.Ed in progress

Intern Therapist

Alan is currently earning his Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Seattle University. He is training in EMDR and is passionate about using it to support client growth. He has a Masters in Psychology from The University of Derby, UK, and a Bachelors degree in European Studies from Trinity College, Dublin. In addition to his internship at Seattle EMDR Associates, he currently works at a residential treatment center supporting clients living with disordered eating. He has previously worked in crisis intervention in Ireland and Seattle.

Alan believes that healing takes place through meaningful connection with others and aims to offer his clients a space where this healing can take place. He believes that part of creating this space is providing culturally responsive counseling which takes into account how each individual is shaped by their unique social and cultural context. His style is warm, compassionate, and authentic. In addition to EMDR, he has experience using CBT, DBT, ACT, and mindfulness-based approaches. He particularly enjoys working with those living with disordered eating, queer and trans folks, immigrants, and emerging adults.

Alan is originally from Ireland and came to the Seattle area four years ago after spells in Russia, Turkey, Denmark, and Spain. Outside of work, Alan enjoys spending time with friends exploring the city and the many nearby nature spots. He is a keen cyclist and enjoys spending time in nature. He is an avid traveller and is passionate about sustainability, urbanism, and linguistics.

Alan identifies as a white, queer, cis-gender, ADHD, able-bodied millennial man. He is non-religious and non-indigenous.

Alan sees clients online and in our Seattle office.
